Jim's love of space exploration began during the Apollo program and has grown ever since. He earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in nuclear engineering in the 1980s. He had a consulting engineering career, followed by a much longer career as an engineering, and then digital, librarian. Somewhere along the way he decided that the world needed graphic novels about science, and after many years of writing them on evenings and weekends he now writes them by day as well. From nuclear engineer to comic book writer isn't a typical career path, but he's grateful for how things turned out and feels lucky to live in a world where there are people living in space and robots roaming Mars!
